Our Preloved Quality Standards at Studio61 Boutique
At Studio61 Boutique, quality is at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about offering a boutique shopping experience – without the designer price tag – and that means every piece we sell must meet our exacting quality standards.
To ensure each item is presented in the best possible condition, we follow a detailed two-step quality control process. Here's how we do it.
Step One: Initial Inspection
When items first arrive, they undergo a thorough visual check. We examine every piece for damage, marks, stains or pilling. If we spot an issue that cannot be resolved through spot cleaning, steaming or de-pilling, we kindly return the item to the consignor for attention before resale. This initial check helps us maintain the high standards our customers expect.
Step Two: Detailed Cleaning & Restoration
Once an item has passed our initial inspection, we move on to restoration and presentation.
Clothing
Each garment is fully steamed to freshen the fabric and remove creases. As we do this, we re-inspect the piece for any flaws that might have been missed earlier – undone seams, small holes, or hidden marks. A good steam can truly bring a preloved item back to life.
Leather Bags & Shoes
Leather goods require special care. Every bag is inspected inside and out – we sanitise interiors, wipe down exteriors with quality leather cleaners, and air them near a dehumidifier to ensure they dry thoroughly. Leather shoes are cleaned and sanitised, and soles are checked for wear. When needed, we use specialist products like Glitz Goo to restore their finish, and we’re proud of our reputation for expert leather restoration.
Knitwear
Knitwear is carefully inspected for signs of moth damage and pilling – common issues in garments stored through warmer seasons. Pilled jumpers are steamed and gently combed, or treated with a fabric de-piller to restore their softness. If a piece is beyond repair, we often collaborate with local Sydney makers who repurpose damaged knits into beautiful new creations – such as vintage wool scarves and textile art pieces.
Mending & Repairs
Our in-house seamstress is a whizz with a needle and thread. From replacing missing buttons to repairing small tears, every garment is made ready for its next owner with love and care.
Vintage Clothing
Delicate vintage items, including silk dresses and traditional kimonos, are sent to our trusted eco-friendly dry cleaner. These timeless pieces deserve professional treatment to preserve their beauty and integrity.
Second-hand Never Means Second-best
We treat all of our preloved pieces with the same respect and attention as brand-new designer garments. Our commitment to quality is what sets us apart – from first inspection to final presentation, every piece is curated, restored and styled with pride.
When you shop with Studio61, you’re not only choosing sustainable fashion – you’re also choosing quality you can trust.
